If you are looking for brilliant and vivacious coloring, a hair style that highlights your facial features, a striking application of make up, or a facial that cleanses and replenishes your skin may I suggest Capella Salon.

Shai and Nicole Amiel have owned Capella for six years now and Capella itself has been in the location for twelve years. Besides the prime location (Starbucks next door – a staple for us Los Angelinos) in the heart of Studio City’s main vain, Ventura Blvd.

The salon has 15 chairs and 18 stylists. I was impressed how roomy it was with so many stylists. I walked up the loft to Shai’s station and he mentioned he scheduled me on a slow day. I thought it was a busy day when I walked in. I was impressed with the size and the “slow day” staff. The stylists were attentive with their customers and I felt the salon had a fine aura right away.

Capella also offers well known, high end hair care products, such as Redken, Goldwell, Schwarzkopf, Wella and Davines to ensure that clients receive the finest products available. Also if you are looking for Kerastase, Aveda, Bumble & Bumble, Deva Curl, Great Lengths Hair Extensions, Yuko System Treatments or Enzyme Color Developers, look no further. Capella has a large variety of carefully chosen products.

I asked Shai if what he would say generally the salon specializes in and he responded, “Clients with curly hair.” So you could stop in for an Olťo - Relax Masque, a smoothing ritual for dry, frizzy, rebellious hair that is deeply nourished, soft, supple and shiny with long-lasting frizz protection.

I received the ultimate color and cut. I have been wanting something that stands out and waiting for someone to cut away at the length. Shai was more than willing to be honest and told me my options. Not a problem for me since I will trust a seasoned stylist like Shai. Here is what was used on me when styling the new do, Kerastase Oleo Relax (2 pumps) and Lait Nutri-Sculpt (4 pumps). Check out www.capellasalon.com for all the products carried.

Shai’s tips for lasting color:

• Always use luke warm or cooler water when washing hair
• Try not to wash hair every day, it is best to try for every third day.
• When using shampoo, concentrate on the scalp and let the run off cleanse the ends.
• Conditioner should only be used on ends of hair with a quick rinse of water to soak through all the hair.

Offering such treatments as Restorative Hair treatments such as Ojon™. Ideal for dry, dull, damaged, natural or chemically-treated hair, Ojon™ instantly hydrates and improves the condition of damaged, color-treated or processed hair without weighing it down. Fortifying, rebuilding and nourishing, it leaves hair extraordinarily shiny, silky and manageable and it is color safe.

In the days of salons now being closed 2 days a week Shai has a busy salon open six days a week so those that work can get in at least one weekend day. Closed on Mondays.

And why stop at hair. Capella has Esthetician and make-up artist, Shani Amiel is certified in great work The new thing in Hollywood. I luckily do not have a problem with my length, just the color of my lashes. I should get Shani to dye them.

I highly recommend the professional stylists at Capella Salon.

Best Stylist for Curly hair!! by Yeshuais4me at Citysearch Ever since reading Lorraine Masseys book "Curly Girl The Handbook" I have taken a whole new approach on how to care for my curls. I began to understand why my haircuts from every salon I ever have been to turned out so bad for my curls (I would always end up straightening my hair until my hair grew out to wear it curly again). When me and my girlfriends from Alaska started planning a trip to Los Angeles, California, I began to wonder if any of Lorraine Massey's deva cut special salons were in the area. So I googled it, and lo and behold Capella Salon popped up with plenty of amazing reviews. I knew this was going to be a one time cut for me (Alaska's not exactly close), so I wanted the best stylist I could get to cut my hair. After a little research I found that Shai Amiel, the owner of Capella Salon, was the most qualified and had the best reviews to cut the curls! Me and my girlfriends were sooo blown away by the customer service provided by Shai and his personal assistant Annie. They went way above and beyond! We all work in Alaska as full time volunteers that go in to the Native villages and do camps and conferences and speak all over Alaska (www.tgmalaska), and Shai was very supportive and charitable to our cause! Plus! I am learning Hebrew, and he is Jewish and we were able to speak back and forth to each other! Double bonus for me! My curls felt soooo soft and voluminous! Healthier than ever before! They deep conditioned my hair, and took the time to tell me what they were using in my hair, and how I could recreate the look easily. If I lived closer, Capella Salon and Shai Amiel would definitely be seeing this curly girl again!

It's so weird having such strong feelings for a married man...but I too am a Shai hair groupie.

Before Shai, I decided to try a local salon. All I wanted were highlights and a little shape to my curl. My hair ended up looking like a damned striped art deco afro. The blonde highlights were STARK white and random (not in a good way.) My previously spirally curls were frizzy and undefined. My face was sad.

Stylist: "Oh, the color pattern looks so different when it's dry." No sh*t. You killed it with bleach fire.

My boyfriend: "Your hair looks like that ficus tree we had. After the fungus attacked it and it started turning white in odd places."

I checked yelp and a curly hair site, crossed my fingers and called Shai.

He had a cancellation. He asked me a lot of questions when I got there. He grabbed each individual curl (and I have MANY - think little Orphan Annie, movie version) and somehow cut each one until my hair had volume again. He fixed the color without further damage. His assistant was a doll and so gentle when she finger combed my hair after the conditioning. He gave good advice on where to get hats for my big-headed boyfriend. I swooned.

Seriously? If you have any type of wave, curl, bend to your hair - call this salon (I saw a lot of curlies in there...and if y'all book Shai up, we're going to be yelp fighting. :) )

I'm almost glad the local salon messed up! My hair is looking better than ever and I found my new curly hair home! To Shai's wife - I swear, it's just a curl crush. Pay no attention to the poster in my bedroom.

I apologize in advance for this review being so long, but if you've got curly hair like I do, you would sit and read for hours if it meant you could get beautiful curls that you actually like!

I've had big curly hair my whole life. I've spent 20+ years trying to tame my hair. All I wanted was straight smooth hair. In college I tried various salons in the San Diego area and no one seemed to be able to handle my hair. No one could manage it better than I could. I have a friend who always gets her hair cut on a day when she's going out. I learned early on to do the exact opposite. I knew never to make plans after a hair appointment without having time to go home and fix what the stylist had done....

That is until I met Shai Amiel owner of Capella Salon in Studio City. I had just had a baby and I was looking to wear my hair more naturally. I realized that I just didn't have time to blow dry it, flat iron it, etc. Knowing that as a "curly girl" I couldn't just walk into any old salon, I did an online search for the best curly hair salon in Los Angeles. Capella Salon popped up. I read a bunch of reviews about Shai and the salon and also saw that he had been certified to cut curly hair in the Deva way by Deva creator herself, Lorraine Massey. I decided to give it a try.

It wasn't difficult to get an appointment. Shai even works on Sundays. I made an appointment to get a "Deva Cut" - a process created by Massey in which Shai would cut my hair dry. Makes sense doesn't it? I mean how many of us have been traumatized by salon experiences where the stylist cut our hair when it was wet only to have it shrink up 10 inches to our ears making us look like a cross between Shirley Temple and a poodle?

I was relieved when the first thing Shai did was ask me the history of my hair. I have been in situations before where the stylist was barely listening to what I was saying. Unlike previous experiences, Shai wanted to hear it all! I immediately liked him and felt that he was really taking an interest in my hair and what I wanted to gain from my experience with him.

And what an experience it was! I learned more about my hair during my hour at Capella Salon than I had in my 34 years of getting my hair done at various expensive salons throughout Southern California. Just as described, Shai cut my dry hair curl by curl. As he was cutting he gave me all this great advice about what products to use, when to use them, how much to use. He even took the time to instruct me on how to color my hair at home.

When he was done, before looking in the mirror, he warned me that my hair would look A LOT bigger right after he cut it than after he washed it and styled it. Hearing this I expected my hair to look like I had put my finger in an electric socket, but I was fairly surprised to see that even at its biggest, my hair didn't look half bad!

So, after the cut, Shai took me downstairs to wear they wash your hair. I wouldn't even describe it as "washing" your hair - that wouldn't do it justice. It's more like your hair gets its own mini massage. They used the Deva products on me. The Deva No-Poo, and the Deva One Conditioner. Then they walked me over to the mirror so I could watch as Shai's assistant Amy put two different products in my hair (Deva Arc Angel and Deva Curl Cream). She showed me step by step what to do to make them work the best and answered every question I had regarding the products she was using. Then Amy put clips at the roots of my hair to give it some lift as it dried. Such a smart idea - why hadn't I done this before!

Shai then came over and asked whether I wanted to have my hair air dry, dried with a diffuser or whether I wanted to sit under the dryer. I elected to sit under the dryer. He then pinned a couple paper towels to my head to make sure the dryer didn't create a frizzy halo. Great curls - No frizz. I was amazed. I couldn't believe I was about to walk out of a salon with my hair looking beautiful. The quality of my curls was unbelievable. I was actually happy at that moment that I had curly hair and for the first time I was leaving a salon loving my hair!

Thank you Shai!

I have high maintenance curly hair. I trust two people with my hair: Lorraine Massey (the found of Deva) and Shai Amiel at Capella Salon. When I lived in California it was a four hour drive each way to get to Capella, but boy was it worth it. Shai is a hair doctor, that's for sure. I've also heard him referred to as a magician. Either way, my hair never looked good until he started cutting it. Also, when you get your hair washed they have these amazing massage chairs and great iced tea!

Shai really has a talent...without cutting much at all, he transformed my badly shaped frizz to lovely curls. Such a nice guy as well. I see why he gets rave reviews. I definitely reccomend him. Reviewed by Minniecurl

Shai is a wizard when it comes to cutting curly hair! He has given me the best haircuts of my life. I've moved all over the place, and consequently been to many, many stylists over the years (with some pretty disastrous results) and I am so glad to be back in So-Cal and within driving distance, once again, of Capella Salon. Shai knows curly hair and clearly digs making it as beautiful as possible. His Deva cut is fantastic. I like that he listened and cut off very little hair (I keep it just past shoulders) but still bounced up the curl and created a new shape. Cannot recommend highly enough! Damn, my hair looks good. :)

My three friends and I were vacationing in the L.A. area, from North Pole, Alaska. One of our friends, who read the Curly Girl book was in search of a salon that did the "Deva Cut" described in the book. She found out that Shai, at Capella Salon was the only one skilled for that particular cut. So, months in advance, before we even left for our L.A. vacation, she secured an appointment with him. We all were excited for my friend to get her hair done by Shai, because for the past year, she had been on a new journey or taking care of her curls, diligently following the instructions of the Curly Girl book. We all had noticed the beautiful difference in her curls. Her Deva cut would only serve as a catalyst in her curly hair care. The day finally arrived for her hair appointed. This happened to be the same say we were scheduled to go to the beach. For us Alaskan gals, this was a must. But it also presented a challenge. We would have to endured post work L.A traffic from the beach to the salon. Everything about our experience at the salon with our friend proved it was all worth it. When we arrived at the salon, I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness and look of the salon. We all took notice of the ALL NATURAL quality hair products on the shelf (you don't see that very often at salons I have been to). We then joined our friend as her hair cutting experience began. Shai was so friendly and personable. He was very fascinated that we were from Alaska. He was more than willing to explain and demonstrate how we would go about trimming our friends hair in the future, since we told him there are no other salons where we are from that understand curly hair. We watched as he cared thoroughly for each individual curl...and as the hair cut progressed, we witnessed her curls transform into a whole new bounce and beauty. Then, we were blown away. Shai told his all too sweet assistant, Anna, to wash and style our hair. We were not the paying customers, but he went above and BEYOND! As she washed each of our hair, we sat in massage chairs! I don't know if that is common in LA, but it for SURE is not common in Alaska! We felt so pampered! You can tell Shai and his salon people employ expert techniques, and are very knowledgable about what they do. Our friends curls turned out amazing. Our experience was like none other salon experience before. I definitely recommend Shai and Capella salon, and hope we can return in the future.

Shai Amiel is amazing!!!!!! He knew exactly what he was doing. He took his time and made sure that i was completely satisfied with his work. He educated me on how to take care of my hair and what products to use. He gave me a fantastic cut that looks great wears well. I had never had my hair cut in its natural state before as this is not common practice for African-American kinky hair worn straight. The first time I decided to do a "big chop" to wear my hair natural few years back, it was cut straight as well! The "devacut" concept of cutting curl by curl is brilliant and truly effective! I recommend Capella Salon and Shai Amiel to ANYONE in the Los Angeles area needing a curly hair stylist!!!!!

Finally, a stylist who can cut my hair right! Shai is not just a curly hair expert, he's an artist! In my 50+ years on the planet I've been to a lot of curly hair "experts" with results ranging from embarrassing to blah to weird. None came close to the smokin' look I got from Shai. After the second time he cut my hair I asked him what it would take to get him to come to Chicago, where I live. He said 6 curly girls... I said "you've got it!" And he came out here. Now, Shai is flying out to Chicago a few times a year and I'm so thankful! We're booking appointments for his next trip to Chicago so call his Studio City salon if you're interested. To show you how great he is here's my before and after pic.

Shai is amazing! This is the fist haircut I have received in which I love! He gave me the Deva cut and took his time, explained things to me and even showed my why my hair was frizzing. I have always hated my curls and I walked out loving them, they were shiny and bouncy! His assistant was adorable and very helpful too. Neither one pushed me into buying or doing something I wasn't comfortable with. If you have curly hair and long to finally embrace them...go see Shai! He is a true artist and worth every penny!

I walked into the salon today a traumatized curly haired mess!!! My family never knew how to fix it, hair salons always always left me disappointed and everyone recommended I flat iron it to avoid the battle with frizz. I love my curls and after about 5 min with Shai it was clear they loved them too. He took his time and gave me great advice on how to best show off my natural curls. They have a wall of curly friendly products ( but they do not push them on you) that are tailored to every curl variation. The ambiance is so tranquil and refreshing I was tempted to take a nap during my shampooing. The staff was very friendly and welcoming I am definitely a loyal patron from this day on.

Wow, I just realized that I've trusted my curls to Shai for almost 4 years now! A review is definitely in order here! The best measure of an amazing curly hair stylist is the amount of compliments I receive about my curls. Since Shai got hold of my locks, not a week passes that I'm not stopped somewhere randomly and asked, "How do you get your curls like that?" or "Who do you go to?" My reply is always the same...the secret is the haircut. At least 5 of my co-workers and friends with curly hair now see Shai, and probably countless strangers who got his name from me. I have a very mixed-type head of curls, ranging from course/kinky to straight to wavy, and in my 32 years, I've seen a million stylist who "specialize" in curls. Bottom line, Shai knows how to work with it all, he knows how to read a head of hair, and bring it out to it's curliest and most consistent potential. I can go a very long time between cuts from Shai because of how well he shapes it. I've never had a bad experience with him. He is professional, warm, and always listens. Seriously, there was a time that I thought I was moving from Los Angeles, and one of my biggest stresses was figuring out how to afford a plane ticket back to this guy for my haircuts. lol! So thanks Shai for keeping my curly mane stunning! Five star recommendation!

I have been coming to Shai at Capella for more than 2 years now and he is great! Before Shai, I had always had cuts where the stylist would comb out my curly hair when wet and cut it straight across and add layers. Shai is an expert on curls and cuts the curls when they are dry so that he can see how the curls and layers fall. As a result, the shape is always great with no holes or uneven pieces or layers, and it grows out beautifully (I have longish hair and only get it cut every 3 months). I also get color from Shai - the red I get has faded very quickly in the past from other salons but seems to stay vivid for much longer the way Shai does it. He is also very focused on making the color look natural and applies different tones to the roots, on small chunks, and on my brows to make the color look less like one uniform block of red. Also, the salon is very pretty and relaxing, Shai's assistants are always very pleasant, and the atmosphere is extremely professional with a variety of product lines to try.

I met Shai in August of 2007, in the professional capacity of reviewing his skills with what is known as the Deva Cut, a cut specifically for curly hair wherein the hair is cut dry and in its natural state. VERY FEW people do this technique, and it requires training with the originator in NYC. Not expecting much, I was thoroughly impressed with not only the technique but the man, Shai, cutting my hair. Though curly/wavy girls anywhere on the spectrum should come her for the technique alone, it is Shai's skill but mostly his warmth, humbleness and knowledge that keep me coming back. So much so that it is now three plus years later, and I'm writing my second review. Additionally, I have turned down professional work (and income) to review other cuts because I really don't want anyone else working on my hair. But it's not just curly girls who should come here; anyone should experience his abilities with color and cut. I've repeatedly told people about my friend who has naturally blond hair; however, when you meet her you'd swear she was a naturally born raven-haired beauty. If you know anything about how hard it is to do black, you'd realize what this means. As for the salon itself, it is lovely. Conveniently located on Ventura Blvd. with parking, it is open, airy and full of light. The washing stations are equipped with massage chairs, and the washers skilled, polite and solicitous. I believe there is even WiFi, and though I may be imagining it, champagne on occasion. COME!

What a great salon! Everything from the service to the stylists was awesome. Not to mention the end result of my curly hair = ) I have always had bad experiences when it comes to getting my hair colored and highlighted. So of course, after reading the many reviews for Capella Salon, I decided to make a long trip out there and found the experience to be completely worth it. Shai was wonderful and is very skilled at what he does. I highly recommend him to anyone in search of a great stylist/colorist. He is the only person who has ever got the color I desired and have it look the exact way that I want it. Shai does listen to what you want for your hair and gives you exactly that. The few people who have left negative reviews on this site were probably just having a bad day because I don't know what they're talking about! I can't wait to go back there again. Definitely give this salon a try!

I was so tired of my curly hair never looking curly, the color never being right, and just generally unhappy with many bad hair days. One of my patients came into the office and I adored her curly hair. She gave me the number to Capella Salon and told me to ask for Chai...yeah, yeah, yeah, one more experience in the curly hair saga. I waited a few months and became more exasperated with my curls (or lack of) when I finally decided to make the call. What an experience! I live in Manhattan Beach and Capella is in Studio City, but you know women and their hair!! We would drive anywhere if we were happy! I walked into this very interesting salon and met this cute Israeli gentleman named Chai. He cut my hair dry and he got my color exact. I couldn't believe it! My curls were back and I didn't look like Blondie with roots anymore. My hair had style and the color was blended with dark and light streaks that I had been asking for. I am now a regular of Chai's and couldn't be happier. I would drive for miles and miles and miles and miles just to be with you, dear Chai.

I read all the reviews for Shai and thought he'd be great. I was wrong. I went in for a consultation a week before my appt., and I felt like he thought I was nuts and wasting his time. The day I go in, the receptionist shows me where the smocks are and then tells me to go to Shai's chair. I had no clue where Shai's chair was and he did not come down to get me. So I show him a picture of the bob I want and he won't do it. I am not sure if he didn't know how or if he really thought it wouldn't look good on me. He takes all of 15 minutes to cut my hair dry all the while trying to sell me the Deva products in his salon, then sends me downstairs to get it washed by a new assistant who had no clue what she was doing. He then disappears. After she's done washing and pinning my hair she puts me under a dryer for like an hour and forgets about me. I look in the mirror and she's getting her own hair washed by someone. So finally his other assistant comes over and takes the dryer off me and takes the pins out of my hair. It was parted weird and was crispy. So $$$ later, I would say it wasn't worth the money. The people were not very friendly, my hair didn't look good and I felt guilty for not buying any hair products. Oh and when I told Shai that I came to him because he had good reviews online, he told me he had good writers!!! Don't waste your money!

I've been to this salon before and got a Deva cut from Keyonna. But I wanted to try Shai's style and see which I liked better. I really liked Shai. He did an excellent job cutting and evening out my hair. Layering it so the curls would be more defined. Then his assistant, Betsy, washed and styled my hair. Once again an excellent experience at Capella salon. I highly recommend both Shai and Keyonna for Devacuts.

I am in awe of the fabulous salon experience you have developed with Capella. It was lovely to be warmly welcomed into what is a gem of a shop - very cool and yet totally serene with just the right amount of edge. I had heard only great things about Shai and must say that you exceeded my expectations. His technique is just fantastic and I love that you use the dry-cut process for curly hair. The care he and the rest of the staff took during the entire cut, color, and wash process was beyond great. Adding to that, the kindness, patience, and professional manner taken to relay the 'how-tos' of recreating the salon look and you have accomplished with Capella Salon what I had previously thought impossible: a truly unique and perfect client-focused salon experience.

Well - I guess I'm in the (vast) minority here, but I didn't have the overwhelmingly positive experience at Capella that everyone else did. I made an appointment with Shai based on the reviews I found on this site. I knew he'd be expensive but I wanted to treat myself. Sooo... I went in with a pretty good idea of what I wanted. I wanted to take some weight and volume off, I wanted to keep my bangs (which are the only part of my hair I straighten) and add more layers throughout. I also wanted to even out the color, which got gradually darker toward the roots. During the session, Shai and his assistant really gave me the hard sell for Deva products through every step of the process. I felt like I was in an infomercial. Not once was I asked how I generally styled/washed/conditioned my hair. Though they DID ask me which products I used. It was just assumed that because I didn't use Deva (I DO use CG friendly products) that I didn't know anything about what to put on my hair. It was a little insulting, actually. There seemed to be an assumption that I'd be buying the entire Deva line when I left. 2 hours and 250 dollars later, I didn't really have exactly what I wanted. Shai gave me what was, I'm sure, a good haircut, for what it was. But I just felt that it wasn't exactly what I'd asked for. He hadn't given me very many layers. He hadn't really trimmed my bangs (in fact he suggested I leave them curly several times, and I appreciate that he likes curls, but i KNEW i wanted to keep my bangs straight at least for a little while, and I shouldn't have to repeat that a bunch of times). To top that off, the way my hair ended up being styled made me feel sort of... frumpy. It was really poufy and high at the top. I'd go so far as to say I looked a little soccer-mom-ish. Instead of evening out my hair color by going slightly darker, which was the idea I'd gone in with, he'd talked me into getting highlights at the roots, which I felt "meh" about when I saw them, and the way my hair was styled just really disappointed me overall. When I left the salon he asked me which Deva products I'd be buying. I didn't buy any, and immediately pulled my bouffy mom-hair back into a ponytail. I called a couple days later to get the cut fixed. I just wasn't pleased with it. He couldn't fit me in for a few days to fix the cut (which also displeased me, because I would think that when someone's not happy with their cut you should make an effort to fit them in as soon as possible). When I went back in, he added more layers, trimmed up the bangs, and got it right the 2nd time (though I'm having my color fixed by someone else). Overall, Shai was a really nice guy (and I actually feel guilty for leaving this review after all the glowing stuff that's been written here), but I have to say that I felt that he didn't fully listen to me or make me feel like my wants were important. It sounds like a lot of people here have gotten great cuts from him, and I think that's awesome. But I wouldn't go back. For 250 dollars I should walk out feeling like a million bucks the FIRST time.

I am a consumer tester and free-lance editor that has made a conscious decision in the last few years to encourage and embrace my wavy hair. It is officially wavy; the hair does not curl at the root. However, with the right product and technique it can be curly. And in the wrong weather! Anyway, I have consumer tested several products from Deva Curl (awesome, btw!), and decided after numerous poor haircuts (where I was constantly showing myself how one side of my hair was off), I decided to test Deva's technique of cutting hair dry and curly. (Another note, I was completely unable to find any other stylists at this point willing or able to cut hair dry, let alone dry while curly). After interviewing several stylists who are ceretified in Deva technique, I settled on Shai Amiel, owner of Capella Salon after watching him work on two different women with very different curls. What an enjoyable experience the hair cut turned out to be. After recommendation of having not washed hair in a few days, in its curly experience, I arrived at the salon. He painstakingly cut each curl in relations to each other until he got the shape he wanted. Then, after a mimosa, I got my hair luxuriously washed and conditioned, and then Shai did something no other stylist has done: showed me that the technique of dealing with the hair immediately after washing is just as important. Squishing leave-in conditioner into the hair, I was then instructed to fling and flip my hair around a bit, and then taking product, hanging my head upside down, squishing it into my hair and then blotting with paper towels (though a microfiber towel or dry cotten t-shirt is good or better), and you can actually SEE the curls forming. After placing pins in the roots of selected forming sections my hair was dried. This has been the best cut I've had in forever, and it's two months in. He says it can go another two to four months, and I believe him. I can make it very curly, or just wavy by putting it in a towel without shaking and scrunching. I've been in multiple climates, and it just looks good, even without product.

Curly hair needs a special understanding with the cuts and color, going to Shai I have tried every hair-do known to man and still have hair on my head all thanks to Shia. I can not express how beautiful my hair has been through the years thanks to Shai. I have tried many places before and they never listen or give you what you want but Shai will make it happen he will find a way and you will love it, I promise. I have been handing out his name to everyone and as a new LA transplant with curlies...I understand how scary it is to go to a new person! He will quell your fears and redefine your hair. Well worth it anytime!" Sat. Mar 24th, 2007

"I've wanted to cut my hair for a while now but was always apprehensive because it's difficult to find someone who knows how to deal with thick or curly hair. I read positive reviews about Shai and Capella Salon and decided to make an appointment. The atmosphere of the salon is really laid back, unpretentious, and welcoming. I told Shai what I wanted and he definitely exceeded me expectations. I will definitely continue to go to Shai for any hair-related issues and I will definitely refer all of my curly friends. I highly recommend Shai and Capella Salon for anyone with any type of curly hair. " Mon. Jan 22nd, 2007

"Hi, my name is Lisa Bingham and I have naturally curly long blonde hair. I found my stylist Shai at Capella Salon over eight years ago and have been loyal to him ever sense he did my first hair-do at his salon. I was impressed so much by the way he could take my ideas and reassure me he could make it happen so I could wear my curly hair straight and short if I like and it would still look good when I wear it natural again. I have all my friends and the men I have dated through the years go to him and give him a try because I know he is what they need. By the way my curly hair is super rad. Thanks for listening, LISA." "I just moved to California from New York and NaturallyCurly.com has made it very easy. I knew I could trust the referrals I read here. When I called Capella Salon, I even had my choice of 3 stylists who know their stuff when it comes to curly hair. I decided to go with the owner because he also specialized in coloring for curly hair. My hair looks so good. It has shine, bounce and I just love it !!! The color and haircut are perfect. He knew exactly what products I needed. I've had my hair done with the best of N.Y. and I can definitely say that Shai really impressed me. It was a very good experience. The salon is beautiful and friendly. They had great selection of hair products for curly hair. I am a very happy girl. " Sat. Feb 18th, 2006

"Here is a guy that understands curly hair. After going to every single salon on the boulevard, I think I found a new home for my curls. Before having my hair done, we sat down talked about curls. I've learned so much about my hair and it makes a lot of sense now. I learned how to wash, condition and style my hair. NO MORE CRUNCHY CURLS !!! He recommended highlights and my hair has never looked better. It's fuller and has more of a style. Thank you Shai and Capella Salon." Sun. Feb 12th, 2006

From naturallycurly.com

"When my hair becomes too long my curls tend to look lame and drab so I go to Shai at Capella Salon. Shai is great with my curly hair. He gives really flattering cuts so that it isn't too short but just right so that my curls are bouncy and healthy looking. My hair always looks its best after I go to him. " Mon. Sep 4th, 2006

From naturallycurly.com

"Shai is the first stylist to not be intimidated by my hair. I have naturally thick and curly hair, that without the right cut, could be a disaster. Other stylists have literally gotten lost in my hair! It's annoying and embarrassing. Shai is completely confident, not to mention competant with curls. He understands that I don't want it "too big" or "too full." He's cut it short, he's trimmed it long. Shai is a color specialist as well, and he artfully highlights my curls to perfection. I don't know how he does it, but each curl has 3 colors running through it, but blends beautifully. He never tells me to wear it straight. He's gotten me to love my hair. " Mon. Sep 4th, 2006

Best Move Ever!
Posted by metnyc1 on 03/22/2007
I recently moved to LA from NY, where I left behind a fabulous hairdresser who I had been going to for over 7 years! I was considering just waiting until I went back to NY until my next cut...until I came across Capella Salon on Citysearch and the excellent reviews on Shai. After reading about how his loyal client's travel from afar to keep going back to him, I was reminded of how I would have done the same for my stylist. I decided to go for it, and I can easily say it was the BEST move ever! Besides being so friendly, Shai is a great listener and wants and asks to hear what you want with your hair. After he gets your input, he uses his own talent and artistry to design a beautiful cut. He loves doing hair, he loves his salon and his clients, and it shows...he's even using his profits to completely redesign the salon instead of getting the car he wanted!

Pros: Friendly, inviting atmosphere, parking, service, price
Cons: Needs more lighting

I really look forward to going to Capella. The people are so nice. Shai my stylist always has great idea's to make my hair look great. I always feel and look fabulous when I leave the salon.

The best salon in the valley !!!

My friend found Capella on citysearch.com and told me about her pleasant experience so I sent my husband to see Shai. He came home with a great cut and some color (he's getting grey) and was so happy. I went with my girlfriend and I had just a cut, but my friend got this amazing color. I decided to have my hair colored for the first time in my life and I love it !!! It's fun having good hair. A few of our friends have gone as well. I've seen other people leave the salon with gorgeous hair. We've found a new home for our hair. Thank you Shai & Capella Salon.

Pros: cutting edge, friendly, good parking

I found Capella thru a referral and I was so happy with my visit. Shai was not only the coolest cat, but an amazing artist. I've never seen such coloring techniques. He blew me away.
I also had a facial and some waxing with Shani and was very pleased. I loved everything about this salon.

Pros: creative approach, quality, parking

" more info: Andrea has curly hair and knows exactly what to do in order to get the style that you want. She taught me how to blow it dry the way I like it and gave me a great style that isn't too bushy on the sides and back. So many of the stylists that I went to before were clueless. Andrea is a lifesaver my girls with curls! " Thu. Sep 25th, 2003

Never have been so pleased...Thanks Lisa
Posted by silverrider on 11/30/2006

I have lived in many larger cities, and have gone to the best salons there are, and all i ever seem to come out with is the same color. I am very excited, I just visited Capella salon last week for the !st time, and Lisa did my color for me. I have never felt better. She took my streaky blonde hair and made it look very natural. I want to thank Lisa for doing this for me. I was very hesitant at 1st to let her try something new, for it always ends up the same. She spent 45 min. with me before we even started the service. Thank you again Lisa for taking the time to make me feel comfortable, and beautiful.

My pretty blonde hair !!!!
Posted by labell1972 on 10/17/2006

I was recommended to Lisa from my friend, who I thought was a natural blonde. I have my hair colored every shade there is, and I never got a natural looking blonde. Finally...something that resembles my hair from when I was a teenager. Thanks Lisa !!!!

Wow !!!
Posted by jillannsmith on 11/09/2006

Lisa did a lasting great job on my hair. I'm excessively judgemental when it comes to my hair because it's thin, not curly but not straight, and I have a face structure that's hard to flatter. It's rare for me to find a hairstyle I'm comfortable sporting but isn't boring either. I went into Capella Salon not knowing what I wanted so I told Lisa to just give me a change fitting for the the holidays. She took the time to find out what my style, regular routine, and preferred maintenance level were. Shen explained to me that I could go two ways, left the choice up to me and patiently reexplained things until I was comfortable with what he was going to do. Throughout the process she gave me the sense that I was still in control. Lisa listened to my questions, changed things when I had comments, and showed me how to fix my hair in different ways. At first I thought the cut was too drastic and that it would only look great styled by a professional. But I'm happy to report that I've been rockin' the cut for a month now. I only had to add blow-drying to my routine. Everyone, I mean everyone, loves the look! I've been asked out more in this past month than I have this past year! It takes vision and expertise to take the hair of a picky indecisive girl and make it into a feature that boosts her life up =) Thanks Lisa !

The following is a review for Kristin Arnhoelter of Capella Salon in Studio City: >>I love getting my hair cut and styled by Kristin. I truly feel that I can be honest about what I need and she does her best not only to give me what I request, but to expand my vision of what I can do with my hair. >> >>I've never been much of a risk-taker when it comes to my hair, but when I'm working with Kristin ( and I say "working" because it feels like we are collaborating), I feel safe in trying new things such as a change in color or shift in my standard haircut. I can explore the possibilities because Kristin makes me feel safe and truly cared about. >> >>I'm really grateful to have Kristin in my life as a hairstylist, and, over time, a friend. Something external such as a hairstyle becomes a true shift into a positive mood and improved concept of myself when I'm in Kristin's hands. She's talented, intuitive, and genuine. What a find. >> >>Sincerely, >> >>Diana Benjamin

Amazing Stylist

Kristen Arnhoelter has been my hair stylist fo over 7 years. I can honestly say I have never had a bad hair cut or color with her. Everytime I bring in a picture she gets it exactly right and I get compliments all the time. She has perfected the golden honey hue of my hair and no one ever knows I even color it. She is very sensitive as to what will work on me and I always have "happy hair" when I leave. I highly recommend her for any cut or color needs.

Great Haircut with Kristen!
Posted by sounddweeb on 11/24/2006
I recently had a haircut with Kristen and as always, I get compliments at work. I've followed Kristen to three salons and she has happily settled in at Capella Salon. The Salon has a good staff and vibe. When I have a haircut with Kristen it's such a pleasure. She's creative and talented but also a good listener and achieves the look I want. She researches and tries new products that I get to benefit from. I look forward to getting my haircut with Kristen because her energy and enthusiasm are infectious. I definitely recommend Kristen and Capella Salon to anyone looking for top notch work, and I'm a guy who's not into this stuff. Larry

Kristen A. at Capella is the BEST. Her HAIR CUTS and BLOWDRIES are works of art. She LISTENS, and totally gets what it is you want. You walk out of there feeling like a million bucks, like you just spent the day at the Spa. And, one of the tests of a great haircut, it grows out beautifully too. She is also an amazing COLORIST. It is one of life’s pleasures to get GREAT hair care, and Kristen delivers every time. FIVE STARS!!!

I am new in LA and was searching for a salon on citysearch to entrust my tresses to. I moved here for acting, and I've been through some horrid hair catastrophes, so I am pretty salon shy. When I saw all the great reviews Kristen had, I decided to book with her. She spent a ton of time talking with me to try and figure out what I wanted. I've never had a stylist be that patient. We ended up doing some duo-tone highlights and she gave me a trim. Throughout the entire process we had a great conversation - she has a really fun personality. I was excited about the results, and I swear, I have never gotten so many compliments from men on my hair in my life. One guy (who had never complimented me before) specifically said when he opened the door "wow, you look beautiful"- and I KNOW it was my hair that that prompted that. Even a guy I'd been dating long distance noticed (and he doesn't notice anything, lol)- but when he came into town weeks later and we met up he commented "your hair looks amazing- did you do something?"- i know that sounds like a line, but i swear its exactly what he said, lol. Its growing out great, my highlights compliment my skin perfectly and make my hair look great up and down. I can't praise Kristen enough- I know she has a huge following and there is a good reason why. -Leigh, West Hollywood

Kristen is AMAZING!!!!
Posted by rhsolomo on 01/06/2007
Kristen has been cutting and dying my hair for 7 years now! She has seen me through my blonde days, my brunette days, my long haired, and my short haired days. She has seen it all and has been incredible with each of my different styles and needs! I have extremely curly hair and Kristen is a goddess when it comes to curly hair. (I know she is incredible with straight hair too, I've seen her at work!) I recently moved to Chicago and refuse for anyone else to do my hair but Kristen! Whenever I'm in LA, I make sure to make an appointment with her. She is a master of her trade and a wonderful friend. Thanks Kristen!

Kristy at Capella Salon (Studio City) does the best hair extensions and color!
Posted by nikkibenz on 12/20/2006
I've been a client of Kristy's for the past year. The condition of my hair was pretty bad prior to me going over to Kristy. She was able to color my hair and match the most perfect hair extensions to it. With time, not only did my own hair grow out, but it also improved in texture. The hair extensions actually helped my own hair! I'm a model, so my hair goes through a lot of styling. Kristy has helped me maintain my hair in good and healthy condition inspite of all the styling that it goes through while doing photo shoots. The best part, is my extensions. I love them. They look beautiful and natural. I've had my extensions put in by other hair stylists, but they never lasted long enough or looked good. Kristy has done an amazing job with them over and over again! Check her myspace page by going to myspace and then do a forward slash kristyprentice ex. /kristyprentice. I'm on there. You can check out my hair for yourself.

Pros: Friendy atmosphere, great hair products, starbucks next door, wireless internet in the salon,

Kristen Arnhoelter is incredible. i have been going to Kristen for several years now and i truly trust her for she has great judgement on what fits each of her clients and never does anything without my consent. i am extremely picky especially with my hair and Kristen is always making me even happier. every client i see leave has a smile on their face and gorgeous hair. i never wanted to color my hair but when i first started going to Kristen i felt ready to take it to the next level and she has never steered me wrong! hair cuts, treatments, and/or coloring she is a perfectionist and always goes beyong satisfying her customers. After several years she has moved salons and i feel this fits perfectly for everyone and especially Kristen. it is truly an environment for her to work her magic and conclude is marvels. definetly a perfect place i enjoy each and every visit!

Best Hair Experience Ever!!!

Kristen is THE BEST! I have followed Kristen to three Salons now, where she has finally found her best home, at CAPELLA'S. This is due, I believe, to her innate & wondrous talent, care and abilities, but also to the PRODUCTS that Kristen works with at Capella. They are of the highest standing! I have found them no where else. Not at this level. For the best colour, cuts, and blowdrys, Kristen is "IT" for me. The Salon is always open, or so it seems, and emergency perfection is easily accessible from a variety of talented and caring professionals. How unique! Above all, thank you KRISTEN~ (Thank you also to Abreea for the best make-up I have ever had) I rate Capella a 10! I rate Kristen a 110! Thank you ALL at CAPELLA SALON~ Yea!

WOW! Kristen leaves me speechless after each haircut! It just keeps getting better every time I go! Let me tell you something ladies, this girl knows her stuff! 1. She's honest 2. She takes her time 3. You can do what she did at the salon... AT HOME! What else could you ask for? Don't you hate it when you go for a cut and they make it look so good there but you don't want to wash your hair for days because you know you can't make it look as good? Well, not the case with Kristen. What you see is what you get. She cuts it in a way where you don't have to TRY to style it, the hair just falls where it should. I love her and my hair loves her more! Thanks again sweet pea, I look fabulous!

Best Salon! Great Hair Stylist!
Posted by joce61 on 01/25/2007
I never take the time out to right a review, but I had such a great experience I had to leave one. I just moved here from San Francisco and I was looking for a new salon. I'm so glad that I found Capella Salon on Citysearch! There were so many great reviews about this salon that I had to try it. KRISTEN was the BEST hair stylist I've ever had! She made me feel very comfortable and really listened and answered all of my questions. She has such great skills and knowledge about all types of hair, from super curly to my super straight Asian hair. I've gone to many salon's and some costing hundreds of dollars and this salon is by far the best. I will definitely return for another visit. And I've received many compliments about my hair. Thank you! Easy parking and they take credit cards no cash needed even for tips, a big plus.

Queen of Color!

I visited Capella Solon recently for a color correction. I’ve been dying my hair black for a million years and thought it was time for a change! Amazingly enough we got my hair a soft medium brown and it wasn’t even damaged!! Even wet I could still run my fingers though it!! I won’t go to anyone else but Kristen (who is upstairs in a kool loft) for my color. Oh and the products they use smell fantastic!!!

I have dark blonde hair and wanted to lighten it up a bit with some highlights. I went to Lisa who took the time to really listen to what I wanted and spent a couple hours thoroughly giving me my highlights. She suggested two different blondes to complement my actual color instead of just one-toned highlights. They came out beautifully- exactly how I wanted them and now I no longer have fear of getting highlights. Lisa thank you for your beautiful work.

Kristy

I was a little apprehesive to invest in hair exstensions. But a friend reccomended Kristy at Capella Salon in Studio City and it was amazing. I have thin hair with no body and when Kristy was done I felt ten years younger and my husband said my hair looks our first date. Thank you Kristy and believe me with all the compliments i've received ( those that i've told they were extensions) your getting all mine and my friends business. See you soon ! and everyone love's the color. donna

I HIGHLY recommend her for color! She also does hair extensions & her work is truly amazing!! Not one person is able to tell I have them; she makes them so natural & perfect!

Question: My guy loves my thick, curly hair, but he complains that he can't run his fingers through it. How can I fix this?

Answer: Try this tangle-reducing routine suggested by Shai, hairstylist and owner of Capella Salon in L.A.: First, use a moisturizing daily conditioner after shampooing, and rather than rinsing it out entirely, keep a small amount in your hair to make strands soft. A good option: Curl Friends SOS Conditioner, $20. Before styling, comb through a smoothing balm to define curls and keep them silky. Try Bumble and Bumble Grooming CrŤme, $20. To keep your style snarl-free, get a trim every four to six weeks. Also, ask your stylist for a clear gloss, a treatment that will soften your hair and give it a sheen.

Just thought I'd drop a note to let everyone know that this is the salon to go to! Shai, the owner of the salon, has been coloring my hair for the last 10 years and it gets better everytime! I've never had the same look and I always get compliments on the color no matter where I go. We women make a lot of sacrifices in life, but ladies... your hair shouldn't be one of them! Thank you Capella & CitySearch !!! I searched this site and checked out a few salons in Studio City, and Capella was by far the best looking and convenient to get to. Parking was easy, their web site was informative and the service was spectacular. I have a new look and it's so hot. They used some kind of enzyme and my hair is so much healthier. I was so pleased with the experience. Ialso had my eyebrows arched and they are perfect. THANK YOU !!!!

Worth every penny

I've been going to Capella since early this year (06) and couldn't be happier. Lisa gives me a great cut (first really flattering short cut I've ever had!) that's easily maintained between visits. Also after dozens of tries at coloring on my own, she finally found the perfect shade that I'd been trying to get for ages. I'm really glad someone at work recommended this salon, and I'd recommend Lisa to anyone!

When I went in to see Lisa to get my highlights and base done, I didnt even realize how flat my color had gotten!!!! She did a pre-cleansing on my hair (it was dull and drab from the color build up) And WOW what a difference. I look like I have a hair like a teenager again. I have never written a review before, but I have never felt so great as when I left the salon. (My boyfriend even noticed) If you are looking for a great colorist...see Lisa...shes a pro!!!!

After I had moved to Los Angeles and have survived several salon visit disasters (which were expensive and accompanied by the super snooty arrogant attitudes one often comes across in the city in places that want to present themselves as trendy and fashionable), I resigned to having to wait for my next trip to New York to go to the hairdresser. If it sounds quite extravagant, it indeed was! very little time to dedicate to styling in the morning -- a combination that requires high New York every single time I needed a haircut, I decided to give it another shot in New York. LISA DID WONDERS WITH MY HAIR!!! She cut my hair BEATIFULLY: the proportions of the layers are perfect, the hair feels and looks full and bouncy, the layers around my face are extremely flattering and I don't have to do anything with my hair but let it dry on its own! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Lisa! I also had her put a few highlights in the front...I cant believe how just a few brightened up my face. And the dimension it gave to the cut! She is extremely skilled and has a perfect sense of style -- a rare combination that makes it for somebody you can trust with your hair. The ambiance in the salon is very warm and friendly. You will be offered tea, your concerns will be taken seriously and addressed, you will receive honest and valuable advice from talented stylists and you will walk out with great-looking hair.

Capella Salon is truly one of the best deals in Los Angeles. While nice hair doesn't come cheap, the prices here are far more reasonable than anywhere else. The staff is extremely friendly and considerate and the customer service is excellent overall. All of the stylists are well trained artists, but they do not try to impose looks on their clients. They only make suggestions, and then allow the client to have the final say. I would recommend allowing them to do what they suggest however, I've never had anyone there be wrong. Lisa is excellent, and everyone else I'm sure is as well. I will definitely be back for my next visit in 5 weeks.

5 out of 5 people found this review helpful

After an exhaustive search all over L.A. I have finally found the absolute best hairstylist in this city. Elizabeth is talented, reasonably priced and gave me a haircut that makes me look better than I actually do. Thanks a million

Dear Shai,

Thanks for your follow up email. I was really, really pleased with my visit to the salon yesterday and really loved what Claudia did with my hair. She was terrific and very helpful in choosing a hairstyle for me. Thank you, also, for the comped product that you gave me after my run in with police radar. It was so nice of you. I will be back!

Thanks again,

I'd fly from Hawaii to LA just to have Shai cut & color my hair.
Posted by iriszemel on 03/05/2007
When I lived in LA I used to go to Capella Salon to get my hair done by Shai... Everytime I left the salon I felt amazing, I would make heads turn and get complements on my hair where ever I'd go. 2 yrs ago I moved to Hawaii and have tried to many diff. stylist and salons-- Not One Came close to doing my hair half as nice as Shai.... After 2 years I reached a conclusion- fly to LA and see Shai-- It's worth the plane ticket expense! Sounds extreme, I know, but I swear he's worth it... He does amazing work with color, highlights, cut, blowdry and just everything... Totally perfect! There has been so many times I wasn't sure how to get the color or style and just told him to do what he wants and not once was I disappointed. I will never try to find another stylist, no matter where I live- I'd fly from anywhere to get my hair done by Shai.

World's best haircare
Posted by kathey_haas on 03/05/2007
I have been a client of Shai's at Capella Salon for over 7 years. I drive up from Huntington Beach (50 miles, one way) regularly and wouldn't think of going anywhere else to have my hair done. Shai takes my needs and desires into account when cutting and highlighting my hair. He and his assistants take excellent care of my hair and I have gotten compliments on it ever since I started going to Capella. I continue to get compliments on my hair (both style and color) even on the days right before my next appointment. I love the flexibility of Sunday appointments. This allows me to drive the freeways when there is less traffic and congestion. In fact, until my daughter moved to Northern California, we would have appointments together with Shai on a Sunday and made it a special mother-daughter day. And Shai is such a versatile hairdresser that he would do very different styles for each us and have us looking our best!! Not only do I get wonderful hair treatments at the salon, but I get help selecting the right hair care products for use at home. I am made to feel like a valued family member at the salon and always enjoy going to my appointments. If you are looking for a great hair salon, look no further than Capella!!!

Pros: Staff, Products and Service, Flexibility of Appointment Times

Comments: My daughter Vanessa had her hair done by Shai yesterday afternoon and it is beautiful. It is hard to find someone that not only knows what he is doing but is also listening to what customer really wants.

Hey! Thanks for your interest in my opinion. I am a newer client of Michael David's. That is to say that I have only been to him on two occasions. He's wonderful! Great color, excellent cut, great conversation, etc., etc. Your salon is lovely. Hope you're having a good week. Take care.

Hi!
I came in a few weeks ago and had my hair lightened by Dre. She did a great job and was really nice. I plan on coming back to have her do my roots. She was great!

Keyonna

"After researching curl-friendly salons, I came across all the great reviews from Leo at Capella. Her name skipped my mind when scheduling my appointment so I was booked with another stylist...KEYONNA. I was not disappointed. KEYONNA is great. She listened to my complaints and wants about my hair. And had some great suggestions for daily maintenance. While Leo may be great, Capella has another wonder...KEYONNA!!!!!!!! I found my curl-friendly stylist (she's got amazing curls too)!!!!!!" Sun. Jul 31st, 2005

Hi Shai,

I booked my appointment with Keyonna this past Friday. She is awesome! My hair never looked this good! CAPELLA SALON ROCKS!!!

Thanks

Best curly cuts in LA!
Posted by rowdy58 on 11/08/2006

I searched high and low to find a hair salon that could cut curly hair without turning me into a poodle or triangle head. I have to say, I finally found it! Keyonna gave me the DevaCut which is a dry cut for curly hair. I know it sounds strange but it really works. Keyonna also introduced me to the Deva hair care products. I love them! My hair use to be frizzy and unruly, but now it's soft, manageable and best of all - shinny! I just love it. I highly recommend the salon and Keyonna if you have curly hair.

Kiana is the bomb
Posted by tulanii on 10/24/2005

If you are black or of mixed race or any race for that matter, Kiana will hook you up...She does the best flat iron without the heat of regular salons. I went in to get highlights and it turned out to be the best thing I could have ever done. She was quick, efficient and very nice. She even told me that if I didn't like it in a couple of days, I could come back and she would adjust the color. Now that is great service with a great smile to boot.

Pros: Friendly, Fast, Informative
Cons: N/A

Just got a cut and color from Nicole and I have to say I just love my hair!! It has been a "great hair day" everyday! She had great suggestions and really listened to my needs as well.

Amazing Cuts and Color

Lisa Sexton has been cutting and coloring my hair for the past year since she returned to LA from NYC. She is by far the BEST stylist I have every gone to. She really understands how to adjust the coloring process for different hair types and shades, and has been able to make my hair look great as I've gone from lighter, to darker, back to lighter. On top of that, she's kept my hair from getting damaged in the process. Every time I leave the salon I get compliments from my friends and family. The salon is beautiful and has a very cool, easy-going vibe. I highly recommend anyone who gets color to make an appointment with Lisa!!!!

LISA HAS GIVEN ME THE BEST COLOR
Posted by jillajill on 03/07/2007
A few months ago I got a terrible highlighting job that left my hair bleached and dry. My long hair has always been my signature feature, so I was determined to find a quality colorist who could restore it. I found Capella Salon on Citysearch and was impressed by the consistently high ratings so I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Lisa took the time to explain to me what had been done to my hair before, why it looked the way it did, and what she thought was the best way to fix it. She turned my hair from what I can only describe as "straw-like" to a beautiful, rich auburn that looked as healthy and shiny as it ever has in my life. I couldn't believe the results - I literally couldn't take the smile off my face as it was being blown dry, and I could start to see the color. LIsa knows what she is doing, and though it's pricey, it's really worth every penny.

I am so glad I found LISA
Posted by mimithomas on 03/09/2007
I have been seeing LISA now for the past 6 months. When I started going to Capella Salon, my hair was DRY!!! I am not sure what is in the color she uses, but I swear that it is softer when I leave than when I walk in. MY boyfriend has even noticed. And I can not believe my red lasts this long. Thanks for the soft hair.

Pros: I get my hair done on Sundays

Thank you again LISA

Soooo happy I found Lisa!!! She did my highlights and lowlights, right away she knew the shades of colors needed for my compection to add contrast. My color and hair never looked so shiny, the next day I went to work NEVER got so many compliments before on my hair. Followed by adding long layers and longer bangs gave a great texture and soft movement to my hair. And most of all it didn't take forever to be in the salon to wait for your hair to be done ( like in the previous salons I've been). The combination of two color techniques takes less then an hour and half. LISA gets all the beautifull, fabulos blonds. The salonis busy, and has no attitude, everyone knows what they doing. Great shampoo ever as well!!!!

Excellent Customer Service!

I've been going to Capella for the last 3 years, and have finally found my DREAM stylist in Lisa Sexton! Not only has Lisa won me over with her color expertise, but she is now also coloring my husband's hair, and cutting and styling both my teenagers' hair! (Boy and girl) What makes Lisa unique is her uncanny ability to study someone's hair and the way it lies on their head, and then know exactly how to cut it so it will do exactly what you want it to when you style it yourself at home! She also happens to be a genuinely great human being, and makes her clients feel comfortable from the get-go. (GREAT scalp massage!) The salon is incredibly friendly and has a hip, relaxed vibe. I've had great personal attention at Capella and recommend it to all my friends. Lisa ROCKS, and the prices are reasonable. Go! Make an appointment now!

SHANI ROX FOR EYEBROWS!@#@!

Shani is incredible. I literally went to about ten people before finding her. It doesn't get better! She is incredibly thorough and takes the time to get every stray hair. Very comfortable room with nice music as well. If you stop by be sure to get a relaxing facial too...I just got back from seeing and was so pumped about my facial and eyebrows I decided to post a review!

  • Pros: Good Price, great atmosphere, easy parking

  • Cons: She can get booked...call ahead!

I am ALWAYS happy with the facials, skin care products and attention that Shani provides. Her facials are so relaxing and wonderful for my skin. Plus, she always has great recommendations on products. My skin has different needs different times of the year, and Shani has provided me with the right product EVERY time!

Great facials and brows!
Posted by salvino on 10/20/2006

shani at capella salon is a wonderful facialist and a true artist when it comes to eyebrows, and i'm really picky! she has great healing hands and a gental demeanor. shani is a caring person as well. she does it all, waxing, facials, microderm, etc. like me, you'll soon become addicted! i can't recommend her enough.

Shani is the best for eyebrows!! She is AMAZING!@#@! Better than anyone over the hill. The price is expensive ($25) but worth it. Very meticulous. Don't really like the strip wax but you can't have everything I guess. Be sure to ask for Shani if you want a great shape.

MANDY IS THE BEST

not only has she been giving me amazing haircuts over the past 6 months (they grow out so well!), but she took me from a blonde (had been highlighting for past 19 years) but to a brunette and the color is PERFECT. I am getting more compliments and the care she took in the color process was meticulous. I definitely felt I was in good hands - and I was! The color is gorgeous - I am so lucky to have found her!!!

  • Pros: Mandy!, expertise, great products

  • Cons: ZERO!

I have been going to Karen Duxbury for 7 years. She has changed my color many times to keep it current. I am supried to see that she used 3 colors minimum! She says it creates depth. WHat ever she does I love it every time, and keep coming back. See you in 4 weeks Karen!
